Many folks opt to skip hospital photos, but I loved that these parents wanted to slow down the hours before they returned to their home and their routine, and really cherish the first hours of meeting their new son.
hospital birth | Charlotte NC
I absolutely thought I would never photograph a birth. Especially after having my own children. But when my sweet friend requested that I did, I knew immediately that I would do it because of her reason why. She wanted to remember birth, as the incredible and life-altering human experience that it is, the privilege of bringing another life into this world. It was intimate and full of wonder, and simply an honor to witness and document.
“You were very discreet, I hardly realized you were in the room and was very surprised that you got the shots you did given how little I noticed your presence, which is a good thing!
These pictures are done for me, they aren't for Christmas cards or for me to share broadly, but done because the birth process is huge and as the number one key player, it's sad to me that I have forgotten so much of the actual delivery. These are unlike any other professional photos that have been or will be taken, they are very special.
I was surprised by how you captured my husband and I. We've been married 10 years and now have three kids; life ain't easy but it's nice to see unscripted moments of love and admiration between us. Not that I thought it didn't exist, but it's really great to see how we react towards one another in these moments, and the pictures make me love him more. Through the seasons of marriage, these will be nice to look at in the low points as well as the high. Thank you, thank you. The pictures are a wonderful gift!!”
